Introduction to beautiful deserts of Iran
Some people with the cold season approaching may clear the intention of traveling from their minds but it would be interesting to know that there are wonderful areas that are suitable to travel only on cold seasons. These regions are the deserts that have covered a large part of our country. You can either take a day-long tour of the desert near your city or a few days' journey away. It is only 4 hours away from Tehran, a desert full of tourist attractions. The sand dunes, or Maranjab sands, are so famous that you can never see them without tourists. So it can be concluded that if you are looking for a safe destination that is not too crowded, Maranjab is the best option. Abouzeydabad Desert

The other deserts you can easily reach is Abouzeydabad Desert in northeast Kashan. You can live in the sand dunes of this desert for hours away from the stress and bustle of the city. Also near the desert, there is Abouzeydabad Carvansarai where you can get acquainted with the architecture of the Safavid Carvansarais. Another attraction nearby is the underground city that some believe is the oldest underground city in the world. This underground city is famous for its ventilation system. The Mesr Desert

The Mesr desert is located 55 km from the city of Khor in Isfahan province. The name of Mesr comes from a village nearby of the same name that you can visit for a night stay. The sand dunes of the Mesr desert are extremely pristine and vast enough that sand dunes will not fade away up to the horizon. Here you can also experience camel riding and see the phenomenon called Chal Saleknoon. The Chal Saleknoon are very interesting trenches surrounded by sand dune hills. You have many choices to travel to the Mesr Desert. You can also spend your nights in Farahzad and Jandaq villages in addition to accommodation in the Mesr village itself. Farahzad Village is a small village surrounded by sand dunes and Jandagh village has an old castle which is today one of the tourist areas of Khor and Biabanak.

Halvan Desert, Tabas

Tabas in the west of South Khorasan is one of the most beautiful cities in Iran. Perhaps one of the areas that you are not very familiar with is the Halvan desert of Tabas. This desert near the city of Tabas, has a very good access road that can be one of the extraordinary tourist attractions. The Khor-Tabas road passes through this area, and you will also reach this desert if you cross the Jafarabad three-way road to Tabas and cross the side roads first to Halvan village and then to Khairabad village. Halvan is named after a village of the same name in Tabas. Other attractions in the village are the date-groves and the old part of Halvan, which are very spectacular. Halvan is also one of the beautiful deserts of Iran.

Haj Ali Gholi Desert of Damghan

Haj Ali Gholi desert is located in Semnan province and in the south of Damghan city. The Hassanabad River, which enters the desert from the northeast, has created a valley 5 meters deep inside. Damghan desert has different coverings such as sand dunes, salt lake and also swampy area. You can visit this desert through different routes. One of them is Damghan's path to Moaleman. You must first get on this road, then enter Deh Forat Road to Kooh Khers. Of course, the safest way to reach this desert is the village of Khorzan, which is located after the police station on the way from Damghan to Moaleman. After reaching Khorzan village, you should go to Masih Abad village and enter the salt mine road. This desert is also one of our suggestions for visiting the beautiful deserts of Iran.

Varzaneh Desert

Varzaneh Desert is one of the deserts that you will never forget. This area is located 100 km east of Isfahan. The sand dunes of Varzaneh desert are different from anywhere else. The winds that blow in this desert have given these hills different shapes. Going there, you will feel that each of these hills has a story to tell. Among the attractions you can find around this desert are Gavkhoni Wetland and Qortan Castle. For accommodation, there are also local houses where you can spend the night and enjoy the beautiful sky of the desert night. Varzaneh desert is one of the beautiful deserts of Iran.

General tips you should know about desert exploring in beautiful deserts of Iran:

  • Always have a lot of water with yourself (even more than you need)
  • Dress light for your trip and make sure you have warmer clothes for sunset and the night
  • It would be better to have map and GPS with yourself if you are not on a tour
  • It would be better to have a handkerchief or scarf with yourself so that you could use it during sandstorms
