Edris Hotel – Mashhad

Edris Hotel in Mashhad is a popular two-star hotel close to the shrine; located in Beit al-Moghaddas Square and just steps from the Bab al-Reza entrance, it’s an ideal choice for pilgrims who want to minimize travel time to the shrine. The hotel opened in the mid-80s (Iranian calendar) and after a 2016 renovation its service quality and interiors were upgraded. Its special location and proximity to Reza Bazaar, nearby shopping centers, Naderi Garden and several of the city’s museums have made Edris popular with both Iranian pilgrims and Arabic-speaking guests. Edris Hotel has seven floors and about 70 accommodation units, offering double and triple rooms as well as one- and two-bedroom apartments. Amenities such as a TV, refrigerator, furniture, wardrobe, bathroom, internet and, in some units, a view of the shrine make the stay more comfortable and pleasant. The hotel’s large restaurant, with a capacity of about 300 people, serves a variety of Iranian dishes. The hotel café also provides a suitable place for a short rest and light drinks. Parking, laundry, daily housekeeping, 24-hour reception and easy access to public transportation make staying at the property simpler and hassle-free for families, the elderly and pilgrims who want to be as close to the shrine as possible. If you are looking among hotels near the shrine for an economical, clean option in an ideal location, Edris Hotel can be a reliable choice for your trip.

Reviews
Despite the hotel's excellent location and proximity to the holy shrine, and the satisfaction of many guests with the friendliness and appropriate behavior of staff, there are noticeable weaknesses in terms of building deterioration, the need for renovation, and a lack of modern amenities. The quality of food is considered average, and some guests have mentioned health issues in the bathrooms and unpleasant odors. However, considering its location and price, many guests consider the hotel acceptable and are willing to stay again.
- Excellent location and very close proximity to the holy shrine: This has been repeatedly mentioned as a key strength, providing easy access to the shrine and market for pilgrims.
- Friendly and appropriate staff behavior: Most guests have expressed satisfaction with the polite, friendly, and helpful behavior of staff from reception to other departments.
- Good breakfast quality in some cases: Some reviews mention the variety and good quality of breakfast.
- Reasonable price compared to location: Considering its proximity to the shrine, many consider the hotel's price fair or reasonable.
- Adequate cleanliness in some cases: Some guests have expressed satisfaction with the overall cleanliness of the hotel and linens.
- Old age and need for renovation: Many guests have mentioned the outdated building, worn-out rooms, furniture, and bathrooms.
- Ventilation and heating/cooling problems: Independent temperature control in rooms, poor ventilation in bathrooms and hallways, and sometimes excessive heat or discomforting cold are major concerns.
- Health and hygiene issues: Issues such as unpleasant sewage odor, dirty bathrooms, mold growth, and insufficient cleanliness in some rooms and linens have been reported.
- Lack of amenities: The absence of amenities like purified water for drinking, toothbrushes and toothpaste, shampoo, and sometimes the lack of extra blankets or towels has been mentioned.
- Excessive noise: Noise from the boiler room, elevators, and conversations in hallways or adjacent rooms can be disturbing in some cases.
- Poor bathroom facilities: Many guests have complained about the lack of ventilation in bathrooms and the outdated faucets and doors.
- Limited number of elevators: In some times, the slowness and waiting for elevators cause dissatisfaction.
It was nice. The quality of food and service and the behavior of the hotel staff were good. The room was clean.
Dear and respected, we chose this hotel because of its excellent proximity to the shrine and were generally satisfied with our stay. The location is truly ideal. The room was clean and tidy, although the hotel itself is old, and if the windows and bathrooms are renovated (especially the problem of the window not closing completely and the water accumulating in the bathroom), the quality of the stay will be much better. The breakfast was delicious and well-organized but considered somewhat weak from the point of view of variety. The hotel's restaurant serves food freely at a reasonable price. A positive and commendable point is the early check-in, which indicates the cooperation and respect of the staff. If more hangers are added or a standing coat rack, it would be more practical. Overall, considering the price, the excellent location and the good behavior of the staff, I give it a full score. This is just my personal opinion, and naturally, tastes differ, but in my view, one should judge fairly and carefully when writing a review because these reviews have a big impact on others' choices. Make sure to bring towels, bedding, shampoo, slippers, hairdryer and tea from Lipton as well as paper towels
It was not bad, for me it was important to visit, which was made possible due to its good proximity
I stayed for one night because of the very close proximity to the shrine, which was very good, but in general, the hotel needs renovation and also more attention to hygiene.
Good
From the point of view of location, it is very good, both close to Imam Reza market and Abbas Qoli Khan market and Edris Hotel. In general, the hotel is good according to its star rating. But the food is not good at all
Overall, for someone who wants to be close to the shrine and doesn't care much about the level of hygiene and room quality, given the good staff and good restaurant food, it is not bad. But if it is important for you, hygiene etc., then it may not be very suitable. But in general, it was not a bad experience. It was a good experience.
The hotel was good, I definitely choose this hotel again.
